Freelance UX Project: Hollywood.com App Design

For this freelance UX project, I was brought in to refine and enhance key features of the Hollywood.com app by addressing gaps in the original MVP. My work focused on filling in missing use cases and improving usability in critical areas, including the seating selection flow, account profile experience, error states, and app iconography.

I streamlined the seating selection process to make it more intuitive and user-friendly, ensuring a smoother experience for moviegoers. In the account profile section, I enhanced the layout and functionality to create a more personalized and seamless interaction. Additionally, I refined the app’s iconography to make it more modern and match the great UI of the mobile app so users know what to except.

These enhancements not only bridged the gaps left in the initial MVP but also elevated the overall user experience, making the app more intuitive, visually appealing, and easier to navigate.

Step-by-Step Guided Onboarding

The onboarding experience for Hollywood.com was designed to create an engaging, intuitive, and seamless introduction to the platform for new users. The goal was to enhance user retention by providing a personalized, interactive, and visually captivating journey that aligns with the brand’s entertainment-focused identity.

Showtime & Theatre Selection

The showtime and theatre selection flow was designed to provide a smooth and intuitive experience for users looking to book movie tickets. The process begins with location-based filtering, allowing users to quickly find nearby theaters or search for a specific one. Users can filter showtimes by format (IMAX, 3D, etc.) or availability. Users are notified if a showtime is unavailable or already booked.

Refund Ticket Flow

identified and designed a missing flow for the refund ticket process under the "My Tickets" tab. While the original MVP included basic ticket management features, it lacked a clear, user-friendly way for customers to request refunds.

To address this, I created a streamlined refund flow that guided users through the process step by step, ensuring clarity and ease of use. I focused on making key details—such as eligibility, refund policies, and confirmation steps—easily accessible, reducing friction and uncertainty for users.

Crafting Iconography for Hollywood.com: A Mission-Driven Approach

To design the App Store iconography for Hollywood.com, I conducted a competitive analysis to understand industry trends and user expectations. Drawing inspiration from the company's mission statement, I identified key themes that capture the brand's essence and translated them into visually compelling icon concepts. The result is a set of designs that balance recognition, differentiation, and storytelling—ensuring a strong presence in the App Store.
